Glass at the Needle

Description

This shot was taken from just below it in the garden of the Chihuly Garden and Glass at Seattle Center. This week I took it we were experiencing the hottest temperatures in the history of Washington State. Our normal high temp in June is in the high 70s. Today it is supposed to get to 98, tomorrow 105 and Monday 110. The previous record in Seattle is 103. (it gets hotter and hotter—when I first moved here 20 years ago, we NEVER got over 100.)

Some of you in warmer climates may say, "Welcome to our world," (heck, I grew up in Palm Springs) but to Seattle and most of the state this is a real emergency. Only 44% of people in the Seattle metro area have AC. Even though some of our more conservative leaders tell us there is no climate change that we need to worry about, this has been happening every summer and it's only getting worse. I got up this morning to walk and went out at 4:30 am. It's sad. So today I give you the Space Needle on a cooler day.
