Gatun Locks

Traveling through the locks of the Panama Canal is something every traveler should do at least once. It is one of my favorite journeys, to go from Fort Lauderdale to San Diego through the canal. We've done it twice and had an amazing time both times. We were even lucky enough to find a tour guide who had a brother who managed the control room at the Gatun Locks and let us come in to watch the opening and closing. Two people in our party even got to open and close a lock.
